Support in Mission Indradhanush in Jammu and Kashmir

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government. of India launched Mission Indradhanush in December 2014 as a special drive to vaccinate all unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children under its Universal Immunization Program.

A total of 216 districts across 27 states have been identified for Phase III of Mission Indradhanush. Focus will be to provide full immunization coverage to children upto 5 years, increase in DPT booster and conducting school campaigns for wider coverage. Pregnant women will also be given TT injections during this Phase.

Five High Priority Districts (HPDs) in the state of Jammu and Kashmir have been identified for Phase III of Mission Indradhanush. These are Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar. Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), with NIPI’s support, is providing technical support in implementation of Mission Indradhanush in these five districts.

Four intensified immunization rounds will be conducted for 7 working days on each month’s 7th day from April to July 2016. A total of 12 sessions and 3 planning units were monitored by the PHFI team during the first round of Phase III. The second round of Phase III started on 7th May 2016.
