NIPI Newborn project facilitated Training of Master Trainers for Family Centered Care for newborns under National Health Mission, Odisha.
Training was conducted for two batches of two days each at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (SVPPGIP/ Sishubhawan), Cuttack on March 15th-16th and 17th-18th respectively. Sixty participants included staff nurses (from the SNCUs, State Newborn Resource Centre staff and faculty of SVPPGIP.
Audio visual training package in Odiya was used to train the nurses and doctors. Skill stations were set up to provide hands on practise in transferring skills to parents-attendants on hand washing, developmental care, feeding, Kangaroo Mother Care, and continuing care at home. Participants were also oriented on how to initiate Family Centered Care (FCC) in their newborn units.
